For those of you who know me, you know that I'm a huge a Potterhead. I know everything about the Wizarding World. Ask me a question and I'll reply instantly.
So, I thought I'd write a short review of each book with a few fun facts!
(Spoiler alert! There will be a few facts ahead which will spoil the book for you if you have not yet read it or you plan to)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
The first book in the series. This is where it all started. It's an excellent book and Rowling has done a wonderful job of giving us a second world to dwell upon.
Each character is so unique in their own way. Each has their flaws and weaknesses and each has their strengths.
Albus Dumbledore is such a wise man with so many secrets and he admires Harry quite a lot. Hermione Granger...what can I say about her? She's a marvel of her own. Rowling created her in such a way that she is an exaggerated version of herself. Ron Weasley has such an awesome sense of humour! Harry is by far the bravest person I know, he has so much courage and he is so selfless.
It's crazy how J.K Rowling was just sitting on a train and a picture of a boy with a scar got etched in her brain. Little did she know that she had created a whole new world for us.
A quote from this book:
"The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should, therefore, be treated with great caution."
~Albus Dumbledore
2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
I feel this is an important book in the series since Harry discovers that he has the ability to speak Parseltongue, which is an important factor in realising that the night Lord Voldemort tried to kill Harry, he gave him a piece of his soul which in turn, made Harry the seventh Horcrux.
Overall, this book is great! Rowling has really detailed how the children are now growing up and learning new things about themselves and other people.
A quote from this book:
"Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself."
~Hermione Granger
3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This book is marvellous. It's also the only book which doesn't have Lord Voldemort featured.
I wonder how Rowling thought of the name Azkaban, perhaps she got it from Alcatraz with just a few letters jumbled.
She also introduced Dementors in this book. The happiness-sucking creatures who trouble Harry a lot.
This book is very different from the others, and that's why I'm fond of it.
A quote from this book:
The one's that love us, never really leave us, you can always find them.
~Sirius Black
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The part in which Lord Voldemort resurrects, good as new. And when Harry comes out of the maze, no one believes him when he says that Voldemort's back, except Dumbledore, Ron and Hermione.
This book is when the real adventure begins, the Death Eaters are at large, Harry is in mortal danger and the worst part is that he gets put in the Triwizard Tournament.
This is one of the most thrilling books I have ever read.
A quote from this book:
"I am what I am, an' I'm not ashamed. 'Never be ashamed,' my ol' dad used ter say, 'There's some who'll hold it against you, but they're not worth botherin' with.'"
~Rubeus Hagrid
5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
This is my second favorite book of the series. I like it a lot because there is a lot of adventure in it. The D.A goes to the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Mysteries to find out why the same place keeps appearing in Harry's dreams, they discover Harry's prophecy and duel the Death Eaters. Unfortunately, this is the part in which Sirius Black- Harry's godfather- dies.
Voldemort also makes his presence felt to Harry and whilst they are dueling, good old Dumbledore comes to save the day!
The idiotic (please mind my language) Minister for Magic believes that Voldemort is not back and thus, thinks that Harry and Dumbledore are lying. He assumes Dumbledore is after his job, until he sees Lord Voldemort with his own two eyes in the Ministry for Magic. He immediately resigns- being the daft person he is- and goes into hiding. Luna Lovegood is also introduced in this book. I honestly love her character, she has such a positive mindset and always looks for the good in people. She's really sane and calm, I've never come across a single chapter in which she's angry.
This is a very enthralling and interesting book and that's why it was so successful.
A quote from this book:
"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect."
~Luna Lovegood.
6. Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince
Voldemort's secret to immortality is revealed in this book. Seven horcruxes, namely:
Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem
Tom Riddle's diary
Marvolo Gaunt's ring
Helga Hufflepuff's cup
Salazar Slytherin's locket
Voldemort's snake Nagini
The Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter
In order to finish Voldemort and end his wrath over the wizarding world, Harry must venture out, hunt horcruxes and destroy them.
For those of you haven't read the books, horcruxes are objects in which a certain person's soul is living. In order to rip your soul and put it into an object which they desire to make a horcrux, one must kill another individual.
This book is awesome and jaw-dropping. Dumbledore, unfortunately dies in this book. I'm really fond of this book and would read it anyday.
A quote from this book:
"'The thing about growing up with Fred and George is that you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.'"
~Ginny Weasley
7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Deathly Hallows is my absolute favorite book out of the whole series. I have read it so many times that I have lost count. My favorite chapter in this book is 'The Battle of Hogwarts'. Its the chapter in which Voldemort meets his end.
We lose many loved ones in this book, such as, Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks.
Although I love this book, I feel that a more elaborate prologue would have been nice. J.K Rowling could have written about everyone's jobs and how events went down after The Battle, it would have been a lengthy chapter but it would have been worth it.
Overall, this book is great, beyond the words in a dictionary.
A quote from this book:
"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.
~Albus Dumbledore
